Eumer Gives Back to the Community

It all started on the banks of the Merkarvia River with two young boys, Olli and Jaako Ojamo, making homemade lures and flies for the local anglers. With access to their Dad's factory and machines and a growing number of anglers intereseted in their products, their little business flourished. Eumer has since grown by leaps and bounds from a local company to an international success, but Olli and Jaako have not forgotten their roots and the place that it all began.

Anyone in the world of fishing knows how important it is to "give back" to the rivers and lakes to keep the fish population healthy, but to Olli and Jaako giving back has a different meaning. In Merkarvia, there is a home for special-needs individuals. To support the home, the residents are allowed to work for the local businesses doing basic tasks. Eumer employs many of them to package their tubes and products. Trying to keep things basic, Jaako has developed a simple process for counting and packaging tubes. The workers also perform a number of other tasks for Eumer and take considerable pride in the work they do. The residents love when Olli and Jaako visit and especially enjoy watching Olli's magic tube fly tricks. A large manufacturing company in town once provided work for the home but has since left the area. The opportunity Eumer has provided for these workers is an amazing and inspiring way to "give back" to the community.

The inspiration and enthusiasm Olli and Jaako have for helping the less fortunate is the same approach that has made Eumer so successful. Their small, local business has expanded to over 100 dealer throughout the world. They have brought tube flies to a whole new level with their continued research and testing that goes into each product they create.
