Tube Flies are Taking Salmon on the River Tweedfrom Kevin Patterson - Novemer, 09, 2009 According to well-known Tweed River Guide and professional angler, Kevin Patterson, the salmon are really responding to Eumer Tube Flies. Due to current river conditions, the heavier 5mm Eumer Cone Head Tubes are casting well and sinking fast. The bright orange color seems to be hot right now as evidenced by the catch rate. Both an 18-pound and 20-pound salmon caught on these tube flies in one afternoon should be evidence enough of their success. Joe Fitpatrick Catches 72 Pink Salmon on a Tube FlyPuget Sound - August, 2009 Joe Fitzpatrick had an epic experience fishing for salmon in Puget Sound near Vashon Island. Using a 5wt. single hand rod and a simple tube fly, Joe was able to land 72 fish over a 3 day period! In Joe's words, "It was unreal how many pink salmon are returning to the northwest. They are saying millions--yes millions of fish--will be making their way through the waterways to return to the rivers. All you need to do is locate an area where they are traveling, which usually is apparent by the fish rolling on the surface, cast your line and hold on." Joe used a a fly called a 'Bubble Gump' tied on a Eumer micro teardrop tube, and it was fished on a full intermediate line. The recipe for the fly is: Tube: 17mmx3 Silver Micro Tube |

Stop Losing Your Tube Fly to River Debrisfrom Schmidt Outfitters website - December, 2008 Ray Schmidt, owner and operator of Schmidt Outfitters in Wellston, Michigan, is well known in the fly fishing world for his innovative steelhead techniques. When it comes to tube flies, Ray is not afraid to embrace the growing popularity of this aspect of the sport and its application to the world of fly fishing. Jay Niederstadt and Ray have developed a breakaway fly method that will help to eliminate the frustration of river debris stealing your fly. According to their website, "Logs and gravel have long struck fear in the hearts of anglers because those flies they spent tying in the winter end up being "donated" to the river. Jay Niederstadt's new tube fly technique will offer relief." Ray Schmidt designed 'Ray's Fearless Zonkora' tube fly using Jay's Fearless Fly method. Complete tying instructions can be found on the Schmidt Outfitters website. Jay Niederstadt is a fly designer and a staff guide at Schmidt Outfitters. |

No More Missed Hook-Ups with Tube Fly Poppersfrom Pike Fly Fishing Articles Blog - July 20, 2009 If you use poppers, and you've ever had troubles with your hook-ups, you must read Simon Graham's post that will put an end to that frustration. Simon attributes 90% of lost fish to two reasons: The lull in movement that occurs when you are stripping a popper back across the surface, and the popper head is generally too big for the hook. According to Simon, the second problem is easy to correct by tying your poppers on tubes. "You can see here in this example (left) how much surface area you gain by having the hook placed further back from the popper head. You can still tie the same amount of material on to the tubes as what you would have tied on to your hook for hardly any extra weight." Read the enitre article on Simon's website. |

Eumer Tube Flies for Pike are Making Headwayfrom Pike Fly Fishing Articles Blog - July 13, 2009 Since Simon Graham has teamed up with Eumer, he has been quite innovative in his pike tube fly designs. Simon posted on his blog, "Tube flies aren’t new by any stretch of the imagination, especially with the Blueliner (Hollywood) Trout & Salmon brigade, but for us Snotrocketliners its not something that is widely used and yet is something which has fantastic possibilities for development. I’ve already seen the great potential they have in improving hook ups in poppers and other surface lures as well as deep trawling flies, but it’s the mid water table area I’m looking at being able to develop their products further." His post includes both his full article and several very good pictures of Simon's latest tube flies for pike. |

Eumer Micro Tubes and a 3wt. rod are a lethal combination for Brook Troutfrom Greg Senyo, Steelhead Alley Outfitters Blog - Monday, April 20, 2009 Greg Senyo has proven once again how lethal tube flies are when it comes to catching brook trout. Greg's Ice Man Minnow tube flies (tied on Eumer Micro Teardrop Tubes and fished with a 3wt. rod) caught an abundance of brookies in the pristine streams near his cabin. They also ended, once and for all, the notion that tube flies are only for salmon and steelhead. According to Greg, "...Yes that's right - tubes flies on a 3wt! The challenge for me was that on our everyday steelhead trips we catch fish on an array of tube designs of varied sizes, so why can't I use similar patterns ties in micro designs and catch trout around the region. The results were much more than I could have ever ask for, and for me very rewarding." Greg's blog gives a complete wrap-up from the weekend and is loaded with some amazing spring brookie fishing photos. |

The Boa Minnow can be tied in a multitude of colors, but baitfish and leech versions have been most productive." Finn Raccoon Fur = Incredible Swimming Actionfrom Greg Senyo, Steelhead Alley Fly Tying Blog -Thursday, January 1, 2009 In Europe, anglers have known for years about the incredible life-like swimming action that Finn Raccoon gives a fly. The soft, breathable hairs of the Finn Raccoon come alive in the water to create great movement. Eumer carries only the most premium fur and treats it to our unique dying process. The result is a first rate fly tying fur in a variety of vivid colors. Greg Senyo, of Steelhead Alley Outfitters, has used Finn Raccoon on many of his flies. As he says on his blog, "Finn Raccoon has such great motion in the water, and provides life like action that steelhead can't resist! Couple that with the profile of a bait fish eating a steelhead egg!!! Watch Out!!" You can learn more about Finn Raccoon for Tube Flies here, or you can also see detailed tying instructions for the fly on the left by visiting the Steelhead Alley Fly Tying Blog. |

Brook Trout and Tube Flies are a Perfect Fitfrom Greg Senyo, Steelhead Alley Outfitters Blog - Sunday, April 5, 2009 Greg Senyo, Eumer Pro Staff member and owner of Steelhead Alley Outfitters, headed to the hills of Pennsylvania this past weekend for some fishing. Here's Greg's report: "We fished streamers most of the day as conditions weren't conducive to fishing dries. As we pounded the fish, we had an idea.....let's give those tube designs some additional exposure. In other words, let's see if they have what it takes to be more than a steelhead tube.....well, you've already seen the proof. On the second cast in a deep hole, fish on......Note to self: Tubes are deadly and can be used for all kinds of situations, so keep them close by!" |

Arctic fox tail is perfect for salt water..from Jonny King, StripersOnline SurfTalk Forums Jonny King, a renown jazz pianist and fly fishing angler, has found another perfect use for Eumer's arctic fox tails. According to Johhny, "The fox tail is best because it’s got a little bit of stiffness to keep it’s shape, just enough in fact....Any of the darker colors over white, both underfur and guard hair, make a nice back half of the baitfish body, especially if you have some bulk up front to make the tail kick." Be sure to read Jonny's full post, which has several good photos, for the complete details. Thanks Jonny! |
